It seems that everything we buy now comes with a remote control. TV. Wii. X box. Stereo. I have been searching for a useful yet attractive way to corral this ever growing pile. There are the obvious choices of devices made for this purpose.
This one in particular caught my eye. It is functionally and unabashedly does what it is intended to do…that is store remote. This holder does it with finesse. Could easily see this on a study table or modern city apartment.
More typical units. Functional…
A beautiful box would also work…
What I discovered I liked even more was using vessels designed for other purposes that work within the decor of the room. Used in this fashion the remotes are always readily available but not necessarily the focus of a room. Also, as an added bonus, there are no lids to lift or slots to fit in. Every bit of life I can simplify I will. Here you see a dark wood bowl holding the remotes readily available. While they are visible, they don’t command your attention.
Here I used a ceramic cachepot to store Wii remotes in a media center.
A beautiful serving bowl holds x box and wii remotes.
I’ve listed some containers that you can use in similar ways…
Note the picture below is small, the bowl is not. Check it out.
Some wooden choices…
A metal choice…
For a fun twist you can paint your own in any color, pattern, or theme that works in your location. Here is a beautiful yarn bowl than has a cut out for yarn that reminds me of an elephant’s tusk.
All the vessels above are measured to be approximately the sized I have used in the settings above. The following dishes are not sizes I have used but likely would work…
For a more whimsical approach…
Or you could go the opposite way and enjoy your remotes like techno art…
Note:
I used felt pads on the bottom of the dishes above to keep the furniture from scratching.
This is perfect. It would be great to organize the remotes, and the stylish suggestions above are fabulous.
