So we all try to be an extra good mom (dad) sometimes, me included. My family had been hard at work and I thought I would make them a special meal. After the school ball game, my husband headed to the gym. We had chicken, celery, broccoli, carrots, and onions at home. I took the girls to the store to get some cashews for stir fry. When we got home, I thought to add some zucchini and snow peas to the mix so I asked my husband to pick them up as well.
I made the stir fry and added the final ingredients when my husband arrived. I even went the extra mile and toasted some sesame seeds for some additional texture. I invited my parents over. I put together a crunchy fall vegetable salad, see earlier post. We all sat down to dinner.
Then it happened. My daughter opened the spicy peanut sauce, dropped the jar, and glass shattered everywhere. My middle child noted some shards of glass on her plate. My husband told her to dump it and get a fresh one. My youngest who was right by the shattered saw glass in her plate as well and my husband told her to to take it out, and to be careful. My husband was hungry and had a presentation the next day so he started eating. My dad following the lead proceeded to do the same. Image below from youtube as I did not reflexively pull out my phone to document the event.
As unbelievable as it sounds a small argument ensued as to where it was safe to eat dinner. It was not. My husband felt that his plate was ok as it was on the opposite side of the table. I pointed out that there were shards of glass in all corners of the room, much father away from the shattered bottle than his plate. After quite a bit of discussion, and I use the word liberally here, and a promise to make stir fry this weekend everyone eventually stopped eating. Our fabulous dinner and our “great job Mommy” night ended up being a take out dinner from fast food in 18 degree weather. In other words after cleaning up glass last night, this is all I had left for a post. Have a great day- just not as great as my last night. xoxo
Oh no! That is such an awful feeling. Glad everybody is safe and no visits to the emergency room. Looking forward to getting the full recipe! Btw, my stir fry is always soggy. Any suggestions? Also, at what point should I add soy sauce?
Hey there! Someone in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came
