Have a wonderful night!

IMG_0542For those of you who don’t already know about the Elf on the Shelf…

Have you ever wandered how Santa knows who has been naughty or nice? The Elf on the Shelf helps Santa know who to put on the Naughty list or the Nice list. This holiday hide-and-seek tradition begins when Santa sends his scout elves out to Elf Adoption Centers. Waiting for families to bring them home, these patient elves hibernate until their family reads The Elf on the Shelf, gives their elf a very special name, and registers their adoption online. Once named, each scout elf will receive its Christmas magic and becomes part of the family’s Christmas each and every year.

At our house each December 1, the elves appear. The first day they are typically easy to follow to alert the girls that they are back. As they days progress, they hide in less obvious locations. Sometimes they hide together, other times they hide separately. They typically pick locations that don’t require touching to be seen as that can disrupt the magic.

Sometimes they are a bit mischievous.

The elves below come with the elf boy or elf girl, storybook, and adoption papers. They also have clothing to choose from now. Start your own family tradition!

It seems everyone is curious about the Green Elf that became part of our elf family a few years ago. The green elf is an Elf Off the Shelf. He is a bit more mischievous. He tends to be preferred by teenagers and parents. The Elf Off the Shelf story is slightly different, a parody of the elf on the shelf, which while entertaining may be less appropriate for younger children.

If you would like to know where to adopt an elf…

Love this. My 5 year old daughter keeps whispering commands in her elf’s ear. Where can I find the green one?

Thanks for your comment Kara. The green one was a special delivery from Santa and his team. As far as I am aware, they are not available for sale.

Since this post was originally listed and the demand has been so great, the green elf is now available. I have included a link for adopting him as well as the book that details his history!
